March 21, 2001 - I arrived at Yvette's today where I
was greeted by bunches and bunches of my cousins.
Yvette told me that in about 2 weeks we're going on a trip to Key West.
She and Keith are getting MARRIED....and I get to be in the wedding!
April 4th, 2001 - We got up early this morning for our
flight to Miami. We drove the rest of the way through the Keys...it was
awesome. Did you know that you cross 42 bridges to get to Key West? The
water is so clear and the color is amazing.
We arrived in Key West late afternoon and got checked
into our hotel...the view from the balcony is fantastic. After a short
rest, we took off for a stroll down Duval Street and ended up at Capt.
Tony's Saloon for a couple Coronas and listened to some good music.
I wanted to stay up all night and do the "Duval Crawl" but
Yvette insisted we head back to the hotel and get a good nights sleep
because tomorrow is the big day! The wedding is going to be at sunset on a
130' schooner called the 'Western
Union'.
April 5th, 2001 - After breakfast Keith and Yvette had
to go to the courthouse to get their marriage license and then we headed
off to explore the island. We had lunch at Margaritaville Cafe and then
headed back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding. Yvette had a
special ribbon for me to wear. A pedicab picked us up and took us to the
marina where the boat was waiting. The boat set sail and pretty soon it
was time for the ceremony just as the sun was setting. It was a beautiful
evening and Yvette and Keith looked so happy! After the sail we went to
dinner at The Commodore. We had our own private balcony! After dinner the
pedicab picked us up and before taking us back to the hotel....rode us up
Duval Street. Everyone was clapping and congratulating Yvette and Keith.
When we got back to the hotel...I got sent to bed!!! Hmmmm, but it was
hard to sleep with all that noise coming from the other bedroom....
April 6th, 2001 - After breakfast on the pier we went
on the Conch Tour Train. It takes you all around the island to all the
famous landmarks. Then we went to the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum. After
lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe we walked and walked. We saw the Key West
Lighthouse, Little White House and Hemingway House. We had dinner on the
pier at the hotel and then went back to the room to watch the sunset
celebration at Mallory Square from the balcony.
April 7th, 2001 - Breakfast on the pier again this
morning and then more walking and shopping. We checked out Southernmost
Point and then stopped by Sloppy Joe's for a couple drinks.
Then we went to Mallory Square for the sunset celebration (Yvette ran out
of film and didn't get any pics of me there). Afterward we went to a Cuban
restaurant for dinner and then headed back to Duval Street. Stopped by the
Bull and Whistle for more drinks and music.
April 8th, 2001 - Boo Hoo....we have to go home today.
It's been a great trip and I had a wonderful time. I hope one day I'll get
to come back.
April 13th, 2001 - I went to the Atlanta Zoo today with
Johnathan, Christian, Yvette and her mom, Gail. We got to see the Giant
Pandas. They're so cute and cuddly......just like me!!
April 16th, 2001 - Yvette and Keith took me to an
Atlanta Braves baseball game tonight. The Braves won!
April 23rd, 2001 - Today my visit with Yvette comes to
an end. I'm on my way to Reno for my next big adventure with Kathryn.
Gimpy arrived safely last Saturday
and visited some relatives.
On Sunday, my boyfriend and I took him to Virginia City, which was
the first time there for all of us. I had been warned, there is not a
whole lot to VC, except that the buildings are basically the same as they
have been for the past 50-60 years. Lots of little shops selling
souvenirs. The whole town is a historical landmark, so a resident cannot
even paint the house without permission. Gimpy purchased a Nevada Lapis
necklace for himself.
We then decided to head over Mt. Rose, towards Lake Tahoe. Drove through
Incline Village all the way back to California, the first time that either
of us had been back to California since moving to Nevada a few months ago.
I do apologize, we have no photos from that part of his adventure, someone
forgot to make sure her camera's battery was charged. Oops.
Monday and Tuesday I worked, so Gimpy has been sitting here on my desk,
holding papers. I suspect he was a tad bored. Tuesday we went to the
restaurant, Johnny Rocket's. Gimpy played a few tunes on the jukebox and
polished off a coke. The
restaurant is conveniently located in the Hilton Casino. The slots were
not being friendly, so we left early.
Wednesday Will and I took Gimpy to The Peppermill, one of our
favorite hangouts. Will prefers $1 slots, I prefer the nickel slots. We always leave with
more money than we had when we entered. These days, slot machines do more
than just display bars and sevens. Now many have video game-type bonus
rounds, and I have to be careful, I will blow a nice little pot trying to
get to the bonus round. But as I said, we are always ahead when we leave.
Not a lot, but the point is, we didn't lose anything! With Gimpy's help,
Will scored 100 coins on Jackpot Party.
Today we returned to Lake Tahoe, as Gimpy was tiring of the smoky
casinos. We put the top down on my convertible and drove around the
Lake completely. It was a perfect day for the trip, the area is beautiful.
There is still snow on the mountains in some parts. We passed an amazing number of gorgeous homes, with views to die for. Gimpy was
happy, sitting on the dash, watching the world whiz by.
Gimpy
arrived and just HAD to see his various cousins. I believe that Cyndi
Mommy put him up to this, as he secretly took pictures of all my peaces,
and I walked in on him as he was checking their hang tags. Hmmmmm. I
also heard him bragging that he was a RARE Peace because of his GIMP arm.
NOT the way to make friends with a bunch of Peace bears! As you can see
from this picture, the GIMP was ambushed.
Hubby
Tormod took Gimpy flying on his radio controlled remote plane. Here he is
sucking in his stomach (the Hubby- not the Gimpy) :)
Gimpy was practicing flying to get ready for his big trip- a
10 hour plane ride to Mexico!
Club
Med Ixtapa! After a long day flying from Baltimore to Houston to Mexico
City to
Tihuatenajo, we arrived at Club Med Ixtapa! Too Kewl!! We climbed a
mountain, in 90 degree heat and humidity, to get this pretty picture. The
weather was beautiful and very hot. Club Med is a fun place to be- so much
to do from morning until nite! The meals were FANTASTIC!
The
resort is full of large wild IGUANAS. Gimpy was enjoying the scenery when a
few
iguanas sauntered over and licked him. Luckily, they did not find him
edible! Gimpy was scared until I told him he got his first french kiss. Then
he thought it was KEWL.
The
resort had a lagoon with a sign saying "Beware Crocodiles".
Brandon and Gimpy were brave and searched for the crocs but never saw any.
The iguanas were big enough! I told Gimp he would not want to be french
kissed by a Mexican Croc.
Gimpy
went swimming and learned the backstroke.
I think he did so well because of the zip lock baggy that he stayed in. He
wanted to try to swim without his bag, but we talked him out of it, saying
chlorine would not be a good thing for a rare pastel peace bear.
One
of the BEST THINGS we did was SWIM with the DOLPHINS! We grabbed onto their
flippers and swam belly to belly. Gimpy was not allowed in the pool because
the dolphins might think he was food! Poor Gimpy- you can see how this
dolphin was "eyeing" him. YUM
.
Tropical Gimpy poses with Brandon (left) and Karen (right).
When
it was time to leave Mexico, everyone was really bummed, especially Brandon
and Gimpy. We ended up getting lost in the Mexico City Airport. Gimpy tried
to help but everyone spoke Spanish- not German like Gimpy! ARGH! What a pain
in the KULA!
Gimpy packs his BAGS for his next trip.
Have FUN GIMPY! We'll miss you!
HELP MEEEEEEE!!!! Mommy Cyndi, get me the fu&^% out of here!!!!! I
am held hostage by this horrid Colleen woman who cannot stop talking about
herself!!! I was supposed to be sent to wonderful Ted the Postmaster, but
Colleen said she did not want any competition! If I have to listen to her
incessant mindless chatter one more minute, I will cut my freaking gimp
arm off and pray I pellet myself to death!!!
Week 3
Even in my sleep I can still hear Colleen yapping about herself! Does
she never shut up???? Dear God in heaven, what have I done to deserve
this?! WHere is Mommy Cyndi? When the f&^% am I going to leave? OH, If
I could only tape the priority box up myself! Please, someone, help, I
think I am losing it!
Week 4
The end is in sight!!! I am going to Dorothy's house! My prayers have
been answered!
Week 5
THE NIGHTMARE CONTINUES! SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO SEND ME DAYS AGO BUT I AM
STILL STUCK HERE IN SELF-CENTERED HELL! I NOW HAVE THE SAME GLAZED
EXPRESSION AS HER HUSBAND! I JUST HOPE I DON'T GET THAT NERVOUS TICK!
PLEASE PLEASE MOMMY CYNDI PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Week 6
Colleen caught me taping my picture to a milk carton today. She just
laughed and threw it away. Have lost all sense of time.
Week 7
Called 911 but since I have no vocal cords, it didn't help.
Week 8
I paid off Colleen's husband with Mexican pesos from Karen's trip and
with quarters I won gambling with Kathryn. He will send me to Dorothy's-
only if I promise to help him escape too. Tomorrow, if all goes well, I
will be OUTTA HERE!"
